Twist of Silver by Silver Train is a well traveled mare who has literally raced all over the Northern Hemisphere. She broke her maiden at Newmarket in the U.K. in her first attempt. She went on to race at Ascot, Kempton and Sandown during 6 additional starts before showing up at Gulfstream in the U.S. After one race there, she moved north and raced 8 times at Woodbine in Canada. Other stops include The Fair Grounds in LA; Keeneland, Churchill Downs and Ellis Park in KY; and Arlington Park and Hawthorne in Illinois.

She has raced 38 times and seems to be improving with age. She has won 3 times as a 4-year old and 3 times as a 5-year old. Her total win count is now 8. She has also placed 5 times and showed 5 times. Her career earnings are now $251,378 of which $91,686 have been accumulated this year.

During her career she has tested stakes company three times. She finished a competitive 4th in the Alywow Stakes for 3-year old fillies at 6.5 furlongs in 2011. In 2012 she went 1 1/16 mile on the turf in the Ellis Park Turf Stakes and finished last though was beaten only by 6.5 lengths. Three times was a charm for Twist of Silver as she won at 1 1/16 mile on a sloppy, sealed dirt track in a race that had been taken off the turf. She showed her class by coming out of the pack and putting on a gallant stretch drive that provided the winning margin in the Indian Maid Handicap at Hawthorne. She had been posted as 30:1 on the morning line and went of at over 11:1 to reward her supporters and connections.

This is not the first time she has surprised to the upside and hopefully will not be her last. On June 16th, 2012, at 22.5:1 odds and a distance 9 furlongs, Twist of Silver, racing in the Louisville Classic against 10 other starters was given little chance by the betting public. She rewarded her few backers with a perfect performance, running off the pace and closing to lead and then maintain the lead and win by a length.
Owned by Sharon Wilson Racing, she is out of a Storm Cat mare, Twist of Faith. This is one of the Silver Train crosses that has born fruit. She also serves notice that Silver Train off spring can sprint or route, dirt or turf.
