Saturday, June 16th, was a banner day for 5 owners of Silver Train off spring. In Mexico, at Las Americas Hippodrome in Mexico City, Enaitz a three year old Silver Train colt earned his 3rd win in 10 starts by capturing a 6 furlong allowance sprint against 6 other contenders for owner Cuadra San Jorge. Enaitz is out of Prospective Flight by Mr. Prospector.
At Penn National, the heart of the Keystone State, and Silver Train’s new domicile, Agatha K fired as expected and captured a 5 furlong allowance sprint for her 3rd win in 6 tries. Agatha K is owned by Bayne Welker, Jr. and is out of Princess Birdeye, an Indian Charlie mare.
A stone’s throw away from Penn National, at Mountaneer Park, Awaassif, moved to 10-2 overall winning her first for 2012. She dominated start to finish in a 6 furlong claiming sprint against 7 other runners. Owned by Michael Reavis, Awaassif was bred by Four Roses Thoroughbreds, is out of Last Oasis by Tale of the Cat.
Know When to Run, did just that in winning a maiden claiming sprint at Ruidoso Downs on a sloppy track. She is out of Debit My Account out by Classic Account and owned by Jay and Paulette Taylor and trained by Greg Green.
The biggest winner in many ways including the 22.5:1 odds and the distance 9 furlongs is Twist of Silver. Racing in the Louisville Classic against 10 other starters, Twist was given little chance by the betting public. She rewarded her few backers with a perfect performance, running off the pace and closing to lead and then maintain the lead.
Her reward, $37,500 in race earnings and bringing her record to 3 wins in 20 tries. Owned by Lucas Downs Limited, she is out of a Storm Cat mare, Twist of Faith. This is one of the crosses that has born fruit in breeding to Silver Train. She also served notice that Silver Train off spring can sprint or route, dirt or turf. He is a versatile sire who is once again far in front of his peer group, third year sires, in producing winners and total races won. He is one big horse away from getting the national recognition he deserves.
