Silver Ocean Achieves 4th Stakes Win at Taby, Sweden

Silver Ocean by Silver Train out of Endless Sea by Mount Livermore won the Listed Tattersalls Nickes Minneslopning Stakes for the 2nd year in a row at Taby, Sweden. Made the overwhelming favorite by the betting public, Silver Ocean did not disappoint in winning at a mile on the dirt in 1.38.9. This was his 8th win overall and his 4th stakes win. His other two stakes wins are the Grade 3 Polar Cup and the Swedish Open Mile in 2012.

Silver Ocean was sold at the 2008 Keeneland mixed November sale for $60,000 as a weanling. In an attempt to turn a kick profit, he was entered in the Keenland November Sale in 2009, but RNA’d at $37,000. Next stop on the auction circuit for Silver Train was the Goff’s Kempton (UK) Breeze up Sale in March 2010 where he sold for 26,000 British pounds or approximately $41,000 U.S. dollars. He was purchased by BBA Ireland.

After trying to break his maiden in 4 MSW attempts in the U.K., he surfaced in race 5 at Pisa in Italy for his first win. Besides Italy and the UK, Silver Ocean has raced in Germany, Dubai, Norway, France and Sweden. Early in his career, ownership of Silver Ocean was taken over by Autoindustri AB and has been consistently trained by Niels Petersen.

Silver Ocean now is a GSW in Norway, GSP in Germany, SP in France and Champion Miler in Scandinavia. Quite a resume for a $40K purchase.

For his last win, Silver Ocean received 200,000 Swedish Krona (about $30,000). His career earnings are now $377,187 and his career record from 30 starts is 8 wins, 6 places and 2 shows. He makes the Silver Train-Mount Livermore cross appear quite productive.
